Hopewood Home handmade quilts by Susan Playsted, inspired by colour, pattern, textiles and family life on our farm in South West Queensland, Australia. In a quest to fuel my obsession with creating and collecting beautiful things, I’ve made quilts for the past 17 years using premium cottons, linens and vintage fabrics. Quilts are beautiful, tactile, homely pieces that emit such warm, nurturing feelings. I love seeing my children wrapped up in a quilt I've made for them. In 2014 I started making quilts for sale under the label "Hopewood Home" after moving to our mixed cattle and grain property named "Hopewood". The quilt making process begins with careful consideration of the look and style desired for the quilt. I use this information to curate a combination of beautiful natural linen and cotton fabrics in assorted patterns and colours. The quilt is then pieced together, machine quilted and finished with hand stitched binding and an embroidered personalised label.
The end result is a one of a kind modern day heirloom quilt that is made to be loved and used in all seasons.
